Foster has captured the Midlands, British, and Commonwealth championships at super bantamweight and is unbeaten across 14 prizefights. He also is a former multi-time kickboxing champion and has never had an amateur bout during his pugilistic endeavors. Brad Foster enters this fight on the heels of a sixth-round stoppage over Lucien Reid in their rematch (the first bout was a majority draw). Foster has fought at the British championship level in his last four outings and the bulk of his career rounds have been in championship contests.
James Beech Jr’s Viability as Underdog
Beech Jr has captured the Midlands title at super featherweight and featherweight. However, he has not competed at a tier beyond that Midlands level. Beech Jr does have good mechanics and some tools to work with though. He doubles up the jab nicely, is savvy with footwork both defensively as well as offensively, and has a crafty overhand right that he can draw adversaries into. This will also mark Beech Jr’s debut as a super bantamweight. It remains to be seen if he has diminished returns from the weight cut or if he’s truly found his optimal division.

Both men have a dozen pro victories but the quality of resumes really read differently. Beech Jr’s record is littered with victories over guys with losing records. For example, he fought pros that had records of 9-68-2 and 7-77-0 at the time of the respective bouts. With Foster being poised to jettison to a world title level sooner rather than later it seems, it makes it hard to fathom he is still only 22 years old.
