UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs Harris, also known as Fight Night 172, takes place on Saturday, May 16th, at 6:00 PM ET with the prelims on ESPN+ and the main card on ESPN.
This is the latest Ultimate Fighting Championship offering at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The headliner for this card is a high-stakes heavyweight bout but there are several compelling fights throughout the event.
Walt Harris vs Alistair Overeem
This main-event bout features two top-ten heavyweights going at it. According to the current UFC rankings, Overeem sits at #8 while Harris is ranked #9. Considering that, this is perfectly logical matchmaking. The winner jettisons himself towards the top-five level.
When it comes to the best prop to bet, Overeem by (T)KO is at an enticing +250.
#1 Alistair Overeem to Win by (T)KO Outcome Odds No -325 Yes +250
Odds as of May 15th.
Harris’ backstory heading into this matchup is a truly heartbreaking one. He lost his stepdaughter, Aniah, in October 2019. This is his first fight since the tragedy. It’s a bit of a quandary for Overeem, who sympathizes with Harris’ heartache, but realizes that there is a competition to be won here.

As mentioned earlier, the winner of this bout inserts himself into that upper-contender tier, featuring names like Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou, a comfortable place to be in a division that has kind of ground to a halt at the top level as of late. I see The Reem getting it done and envision the former K1 World Grand Prix champion using his kickboxing acumen to score a finish.
Pick: Yes (+250)
Miguel Baeza vs Matt Brown
This is a classic crossroads fight. The undefeated rising young star and a gritty veteran who has gone at it with a veritable who’s who of the game. I think there might be something in the air in Florida after 40-year-old Glover Teixeira got things done on Wednesday. Take veteran Matt Brown to win before the final bell.
Matt Brown to Win Inside Distance Outcome Odds No -350 Yes +275
The Immortal has all of the tools to hand Baeza a loss, and to do it by stoppage. Brown has a 91-percent finishing rate and tends to thrive in the underdog role.
Matt Brown has been an underdog in 15 of his 25 UFC fights. He is the underdog tomorrow night against Miguel Baeza.
His record as an underdog: 7-8
If someone bet $1000 on each of his fights as an underdog, they'd be up nearly $5000.

Baeza first became noticed on Dana White’s Contender Series and recently impressed in his UFC debut. Although he has a good finishing rate in his own right (75 percent), I see Baeza succumbing to Brown’s infamous pressure game and ever-encroaching berserker-style. Brown will use his octagon experience to great effect.
Pick: Yes (+275)
Angela Hill vs Claudia Gadelha
Gadelha is a former UFC title challenger and has been a divisional stalwart at strawweight. Hill is a perpetually active scrapper who is always game and is arguably experiencing the best run of her career right now. Overkill looks to extend her winning streak to four but Gadelha aims to be a roadblock in that pursuit.
Angela Hill to Win by Decision Outcome Odds No -300 Yes +240
Claudinha is ranked sixth in the UFC’s official rankings while Hill is inexplicably absent from the top 15. The winner of this fight positions herself favorably in that hierarchy, just underneath names like Jessica Andrade, Rose Namajunas, and Tatiana Suarez.

There’s something to be said for momentum in this sport and Hill has it. This represents Hill’s chance to have that breakout performance she’s been searching for, a W that vaults her to the next level in her career. She has been close time and time again and will seize the moment this Saturday. Hill will chip away at her opponent and maintain a good pace en route to a decision victory.
Pick: Yes (+240)
